MAURER'S
ART STUDIO
Bob's
philosophy is to look at the brighter side of things. "When
I wake in the morning and kick out of bed, I think 'Fantastic, I've
made it another day!' "
Born in Brooklyn,
Bob received formal art training at Cooper Union and the School
of Visual Arts in New York. He has been involved in art most of
his adult life.
He met Lydia,
a fashion illustrator, in 1957 and they were married three and one
half weeks later. They moved to Denver, Colorado in 1959 to start
a family.
Bob worked
as the art director of ABC TV, graphic designer for the National
Center of Atmospheric Research (NCAR) and owner of Studio 10, a
graphic art design studio.
In 1972 he moved
his family of six to the small town of Lake City—high in the
San Juans of Colorado. There they opened "The Artists' Workshop",
an art gallery and working studio.
Bob and Lydia
have taught, sold and practiced art ever since! During this time
they have gained national acclaim and their artwork can be found
in private collections throughout the world.
"I enjoy
good food, good music, people (in small numbers), good humor, cooking
and of course… art. Fishing ain't bad either!"
Currently,
Bob and Lydia's work can be seen in the Paragon Art Gallery of Crested
Butte, Colorado.
"It gives
me great satisfaction knowing that I am adding some enjoyment to
this world through my contributions as an artist. While at the same
time, we have been able to raise four wonderful kids who each have
a love of art. I truly hope I am able to add to your life in some
way, too!"
